Visual arts includes painting and sculpture.  Ancient cave paintings and temple paintings emphasize strong interest for naturalism.  Early and medieval art is mostly religious in nature. Folk art is still seen often beside front doors of homes.  Early sculptures date back to the Indus Valley civilization (3000 B.C.) and include stone and bronze statues. Intricate bronze pieces and temple carvings were produced with the development of several religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism.  Large shrines such as Allora depict intricate carvings made of solid rock.
